The Verst Carbon team was honored to co-faciltate the School Meals Program (SMP) Clean Energy Technical Working Group (TWG) Workshop, organized by GIZ Kenya in collaboration with the NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR NOMADIC EDUCATION IN KENYA (NACONEK) and The Rockefeller Foundation . The event brought together key stakeholders to accelerate the transition from biomass to clean energy solutions in schools.
Aligned with NACONEK’s goal of developing a carbon-neutral strategy for Kenya’s School Meals Program, the workshop focused on improving access to cleaner cooking methods while aiming to increase student enrollment from 2.6 million to 10 million learners by 2030.

𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟏: We set the stage by discussing the critical impact of climate change and the importance of transitioning schools from biomass to clean energy. The role of carbon market projects in driving this transformation was a key point of conversation.
